JOB DESCRIPTION
ENGINEERING MATERIALS TECHNICIAN
GEOMAT is looking for an engineering materials technician to join our office in Farmington, NM. We are looking for candidates to test concrete, asphalt, and soil earthwork on construction sites in the Four Corners area (up to 3 to 4 hours away from Farmington in some cases).
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience is preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Pass a Drug Test.
- Clean Driving Record (5 Years minimum).
- Background check completed for all considered applicants.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certifications: ACI, NICET, TTCP are a plus but not required
- College Level Courses
REPORTS TO:
- Construction Services Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Test and inspect construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, and hot mix asphalt on construction job sites.
- Perform laboratory testing on soils, concrete, masonry, and hot-mix asphalt. Training will be provided at the Farmington and/or Rio Rancho location.
- Prepare daily reports on observation and testing activities.
- Review reports and test data for accuracy and completeness.
CERTIFICATIONS
GEOMAT provides comprehensive training and opportunities for certification. Applicable certifications may include:
- ACI – American Concrete Institute
- NICET – National Institution for Certification in Engineering Technologies
- ACNM TTCP
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to work in outside in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs to 80 lbs periodically.
- Must be able to work in occasional dusty, noisy environments
- Must be able to work occasional 10-12 hour days, nights, and weekends. Travel may also be necessary. All overtime and travel time is paid.
- Must be able to remain upright and alert while on the job.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
