Job description:
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and engaging female Christian Private Educator to lead the homeschool education and daily academic structure for our three children in a private family setting.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about both education and child development, thrives in a highly independent environment, and can confidently take ownership of the children’s school-day experience with minimal day-to-day oversight from parents.
The ideal candidate is warm yet structured, faith-aligned, energetic, proactive, and capable of creating a positive and enriching learning environment that encourages curiosity, discipline, creativity, and strong character.
Position Overview
- Will collaborate to establish the best consistent schedule, but approximately 6-8 hrs a day, 4 days a week (Mon-Wed, Fri) for 36 school weeks per year.
- Hourly compensation: Starting at $30 per hour but can be flexible depending on experience level
- Based in person in the Dr. Phillips area, with plans to transition to Winter Park in late fall.
- Private homeschool environment
- For the 2026–2027 school year, instruction will primarily focus on a 5th Grade student and a 3rd Grade student, with some partial time educating a preschooler
- Execute learning plans developed within parent’s curriculum choices. Teacher input appreciated on curriculum choices as well, but final curriculum decision will be the parents’ responsibility.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead daily homeschool education for the children across core subjects
- Create, manage, and own the weekly and daily school schedule with input from the parents
- Independently execute lesson plans, activities, and academic routines during school hours developed in conjunction with parents
- Adapt teaching methods to each child’s learning style and pace
- Foster strong reading, writing, math, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, discipline, and a love for learning
- Track progress and maintain organization of school materials and educational activities
- Fully oversee the two older children during school hours without daily involvement from either parent, in addition to a small portion of education for the preschooler
- Create a calm, structured, positive, and engaging learning environment
- Maintain consistency, routines, and accountability throughout the school day
- Schedule and facilitate daily physical activity and outdoor time
- Possibly transport children to activities, educational outings, parks, sports, or enrichment opportunities using personal vehicle as needed with reimbursement for gas/mileage
- Prepare and oversee daily snacks and lunches for the children
- Possibly work remotely if needed if the family is travelling but still doing school
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required as well as a valid Florida certificate in education per the Step Up Requirements (see link below)
- Prior experience in teaching, elementary education, homeschool education, or private family education required
- Strong understanding of elementary-age learning and development
- Ability to confidently lead an educational environment independently
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Warm, patient, and engaging personality
- Faith and values alignment strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation required
- Comfortable managing multiple age groups simultaneously
- Must pass background check
- Must be willing to file and required documentation and tax forms for the Step Up for Students Florida program (see link below)
