Warehouse Lead – High-Volume Account & Order Fulfillment

Position Summary
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and operational support for a high-volume customer account, with primary responsibility for ensuring the accurate, timely, and high-quality fulfillment of customer orders.
This position serves as the day-to-day floor leader for assigned warehouse associates and is responsible for maintaining workflow, productivity, order accuracy, quality control, and adherence to customer-specific requirements.
The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on leader with exceptional attention to detail, urgency, organization, and quality control skills. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment while ensuring that every order is picked, packed, labeled, staged, and shipped according to customer specifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
High-Volume Account Management

Support the daily warehouse operations of an assigned high-volume customer account.

Review daily order volume, priorities, deadlines, and special customer requirements.

Coordinate workflow and assign tasks to warehouse associates based on order volume and shipping priorities.

Maintain continuous communication with Warehouse Management regarding order status, workload, staffing, and operational concerns.

Ensure customer-specific SOPs and handling requirements are consistently followed.

Identify potential delays or operational issues and escalate them before they impact customer service.
Order Fulfillment & Quality Control

Oversee the complete order fulfillment process, including picking, packing, labeling, staging, verification, and preparation for shipment.

Conduct quality-control checks to ensure orders are complete and accurate before shipment.

Verify SKUs, quantities, lot numbers, labels, packaging, pallet configuration, and other customer-specific requirements.

Ensure orders are properly documented and processed through the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Monitor picking and packing accuracy and immediately address discrepancies.

Investigate incorrect picks, shortages, damages, mislabels, and other fulfillment errors.

Ensure corrective actions are implemented when quality issues are identified.

Maintain a strong focus on preventing shipping errors and customer claims.

Verify completed orders against customer documentation prior to release.
Leadership & Team Coordination

Provide hands-on leadership, direction, and support to assigned warehouse associates.

Lead by example and maintain a visible presence on the warehouse floor.

Assign daily work responsibilities and clearly communicate productivity and quality expectations.

Monitor employee performance throughout the shift and redirect resources as operational needs change.

Train and coach employees on customer requirements, order fulfillment procedures, quality standards, WMS processes, and safe work practices.

Hold team members accountable for accuracy, productivity, attendance, and adherence to procedures.

Assist Warehouse Supervisors and Management with identifying employee performance or training concerns.

Promote teamwork, accountability, urgency, and a strong customer-service mentality.
Attention to Detail & Operational Accuracy

Review orders and customer instructions carefully before assigning work.

Ensure warehouse associates follow established SOPs and customer-specific instructions.

Verify product identification, quantities, packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.

Maintain organized staging areas to prevent order mixing or shipping errors.
-
Ensure completed orders are staged in the correct designated locations.
-
Perform final quality checks on high-priority or sensitive orders.

Immediately report discrepancies or potential quality issues to Warehouse Management.
Productivity & Performance

Monitor daily order volume and fulfillment progress against established deadlines.

Track productivity and identify workflow bottlenecks.

Assist management with meeting established KPIs, including:

Safety & Warehouse Standards

Ensure employees follow company safety policies and proper material-handling procedures.

Maintain clean, organized, and clearly identified work and staging areas.

Ensure aisles, exits, workstations, and staging locations remain free of hazards.

Immediately report safety concerns, damaged equipment, product damage, or operational hazards.

Promote proper housekeeping and safe warehouse practices throughout the shift.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 3 years of warehouse, logistics, distribution, or order fulfillment experience required.
-
Previous experience as a Warehouse Lead, Team Lead, or similar leadership position strongly preferred.

Experience supporting high-volume customer accounts or high-volume order fulfillment operations preferred.

Strong knowledge of picking, packing, labeling, staging, and shipping processes.

Demonstrated experience with quality control and order verification.

Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and RF/barcode scanners preferred.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate warehouse employees.

Ability to prioritize multiple orders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse employees, supervisors, management, and customer service teams.

Forklift experience/certification preferred.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Education
-
High school diploma or GED required.
-
Additional education or training in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing, or Operations is preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk throughout the warehouse for extended periods.

Ability to bend, reach, lift, and perform routine warehouse activities.
-
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as required.

Ability to work around forklifts, pallet jacks, trucks, loading docks, and other warehouse equipment.

Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
