JT20 Directional Drilling Equipment Operator (with Vermeer Drill experience)
Location: Clear Lake, California.
Job Type: Contract (10999).
Duration: Three months plus
Compensation: Competitive Pay Based on Experience
Key Responsibilities
- Ditch Witch JT20 directional drilling machine to install underground telecommunications, fiber optic.
- Operate JT20 horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment safely and efficiently to install conduit, mud mixer, drill connectors, rods, and bits.
- Read and interpret utility locates, construction drawings, and project plans.
- Perform bore path planning and drill head tracking.
- Maintain accurate daily production and safety reports.
- Ensure compliance with all company, OSHA, and local safety regulations.
- Coordinate with crew members, utility locators, and project supervisors.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating JT20 or similar HDD equipment.
- Knowledge of underground utility construction and directional drilling techniques.
- Ability to read utility maps and construction plans.
- Experience with locating and tracking systems.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor as needed.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Skills
- Fiber optic construction experience.
- Utility locating experience.
- Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience operating vacuum excavation equipment.
