Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Block Layer to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for laying and finishing concrete blocks, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal on a variety of building projects. Your expertise in masonry, concrete forming, and related construction techniques will be vital in delivering high-quality results efficiently. Duties
- Construct and install concrete blocks, bricks, and other masonry units according to blueprints, schematics, and project specifications
- Prepare surfaces and foundations by performing tasks such as rebar installation, form setting, and surface leveling
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely to cut, shape, and position blocks accurately
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine layout and materials needed
- Apply finishing techniques including plastering, caulking, stucco application, and tile laying for a polished look
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of structural elements during renovation or new builds
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while adhering to safety protocols at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction with a focus on masonry or block laying on commercial or residential sites
- Strong knowledge of concrete forming, rebar installation, blueprint reading, and schematics interpretation
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as trowels, hammers, chisels as well as power tools including saws and drills
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely when necessary for site preparation or material handling
- Familiarity with construction estimating processes and project timelines
- Knowledge of various construction disciplines such as carpentry (trim carpentry), roofing, metal stud framing, welding, plastering, stucco application, tile laying, restoration work and renovation techniques
- Excellent attention to detail combined with physical stamina for demanding outdoor work environments
- Valid certifications in construction safety standards are preferred but not mandatory
