Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform suturing with precision following aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex clinical procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, ventilator management, dialysis care, and ostomy care.
- Coordinate patient care plans through case management strategies, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health settings.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and diagnostic imaging support like sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Provide emergency response in urgent care or emergency room environments by triaging patients and managing acute pain or trauma cases in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as medication administration, nutrition, family planning, or dementia care while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state registration.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, ICU/CCU/PICU units, outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and laboratory procedures.
- Critical care experience such as ICU or trauma medicine is highly desirable; experience working with individuals with disabilities or in geriatrics is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and invasive procedures like venipuncture or phlebotomy confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient assessment and education; ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care.
