Overview
Responsible for preparing, portioning, heating, and serving meals and snacks to children in a childcare setting. Ensures all food is handled safely and in accordance with health and sanitation standards. Carefully follows dietary guidelines and allergy restrictions to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the safety of all children. Maintains a clean kitchen and food service area while supporting daily meal routines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and components for daily menu items, ensuring all items are ready for children
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing and portioning ingredients with precision and care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to strict food safety standards
- Handle food with care, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and waste
- Assist in menu planning by preparing ingredients according to specified recipes and portion sizes
- Support staff by keeping inventory and assisting in weekly food orders
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with food preparation,
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques are essential
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices is required
- Experience in food service, catering, or the food industry demonstrates valuable culinary exposure
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward supporting kitchen operations
Pay: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour
