Heavy Equipment Operator – Environmental Remediation & Civil Construction
Genesis Environmental Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team. Genesis is a Midwest-based environmental and civil construction contractor specializing in environmental remediation, excavation, grading, underground storage tank (UST) removals, demolition, industrial services, and site development projects. This position requires travel and includes per diem and travel expenses and bonus opportunities.
We are looking for a dependable professional who takes pride in operating equipment safely and efficiently while delivering high-quality work on challenging and rewarding projects.
Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate a variety of construction equipment on environmental remediation, excavation, earthwork, and civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working in dynamic job-site environments and possess a strong commitment to safety, productivity, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, and other construction equipment.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, site preparation, and material handling activities.
- Support environmental remediation projects, including contaminated soil excavation and UST removals.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies or maintenance needs.
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to meet project objectives.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project requirements.
- Assist with labor activities as needed to support project completion.
- Travel to project locations as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of heavy equipment operating experience.
- Experience in excavation, earthwork, environmental remediation, utility construction, or civil construction preferred.
- Ability to operate multiple types of equipment proficiently and safely.
- Experience with GPS machine control systems is a plus.
- Experience working around contaminated soils, groundwater remediation systems, and UST projects is preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL preferred but not required.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety and quality.
