Job Overview
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Structural Welders and Fitters to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding structural components on construction sites, ensuring all work meets stringent safety standards and quality specifications. Your expertise will help bring complex projects to life, from steel frameworks to metal structures, contributing to the successful completion of large-scale infrastructure and industrial developments. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to work with a variety of metal materials, utilizing advanced welding techniques and mechanical skills in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform precise welding using various techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding to join metal components according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Fit and assemble structural components on-site or in the fabrication shop, ensuring proper alignment with measuring instruments like calipers and measuring tapes.
- Use mechanical knowledge to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints for accurate fabrication and assembly.
- Maintain safety protocols at all times by adhering to site safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, and following OSHA guidelines.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, plasma cutters, and other fabrication machinery efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and assembly processes.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints with the ability to interpret complex technical information accurately.
- Hands-on experience with various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding in accordance with AWS standards.
- Skilled in measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision tools for accurate fabrication.
- Mechanical knowledge related to metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, assembly processes, machining operations, plasma cutting, and construction methods.
- Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and the ability to adhere strictly to safety guidelines at all times.
- Ability to operate power tools such as grinders, drills, saws along with hand tools necessary for fitting and welding tasks.
- Experience working in a fabrication shop environment is highly desirable along with construction experience on large-scale projects.
- Strong mechanical fabrication skills combined with excellent attention to detail for precise assembly of structural components.
