JOB Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a Maintenance Mechanic 2at the Walla Walla campus.

General Responsibilities:
This Maintenance Mechanic 2 position performs journey level duties in the construction, maintenance, inspection, installation, and repair of campus facilities. This position performs a variety of skilled work in trades such as painting, carpentry, masonry, concrete, and sheetrock installation. This position works independently in routine maintenance assignments.
Essential Functions:
Duty: Maintenance and Repair
Tasks include:

Painting: Prepare surfaces, repair by filling with putty, caulks, fiberglass, or resin and apply paint on exterior and interior walls.

Sheetrock installation: Make repairs in plaster and sheetrock, tape, and fairing sheetrock seams.

Carpentry: Prepare and finish or refinish woodwork and cabinets, build interior metal stud walls, hang and finish sheetrock, install wooden and metal framed doors, layout and install carpet squares and floor tiles, layout and build complete structures from plans, etc.

Electrical: Install outlets, network outlet, troubleshoot electrical problems, change light bulbs, hang whiteboard, televisions and other information technology items.

Concrete: Form and pour concrete slabs, walkways, footings, stairs, and ADA ramps, layout and build forms to meet specifications; accurately calculate and order required materials (yardage), cut, dismantle, remove, and properly dispose of old concrete, etc.

Drive service vehicles, as required; load and unload materials and supplies.

Operate hand tools, power tools and other equipment, such as forklifts, tractor, man lifts, etc. as required.

Be available for emergency and unanticipated situations regarding all aspects of the campus facilities.
Duty: Administrative Responsibilities
Tasks include:

Use of computer to electronically conduct research of parts and product manuals; manage email.

Assist with construction/remodel plan review of upcoming projects or Facility Condition Surveys.

Complete and close out Work Orders in the CMMS and enter time worked and materials used.
Duty: Safety
Tasks include:
-
Contribute to a safe working environment for self, co-workers and the public. Adheres to all Federal, State, Local, and Department safety guidelines, including any concerning chemical applications and disposal. Reports unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor. Attends and participates in safety trainings.
Duty: Other Duties as Assigned

Additional miscellaneous duties as needed to support department and campus operations or special events.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Physical ability to do required work, operate heavy equipment, service vehicles, climb, kneel, bend, stoop, pull, lift and carry items weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. with the use of hand trucks, dollies and other aids.

Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment.

Ability to prioritize and self-manage work load through changing conditions.

Required Qualifications:
Any combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job may be considered by the college.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Four years’ experience working in construction or building maintenance.

Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing painting, flooring and carpentry.

Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Experience that reflects a strong commitment to customer service.

Demonstrated experience with electrical, plumbing painting, flooring and carpentry.
