Assigned Territory & Segment :
Responsible for Asian and Foodservice accounts within the Western Region, including Hawaii and Western Canada, as assigned by senior sales leadership.
Job Summary :
The Assistant Sales Manager is an exempt, professional role responsible for overseeing all sales-related activities within the assigned territory and customer segment. The position focuses on maintaining strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring alignment with broader market activities, and supporting sustainable business growth.
Key responsibilities include developing sales and marketing plans, preparing forecasts and budgets, accurately reporting market conditions, managing customer communications, providing customer service, maintaining and tracking sales records, and executing initiatives that drive profitable sales growth in accordance with the company’s long-term goals and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Operation Functions
●Conduct sales activities for Asian and Foodservice accounts, including sales calls, trade show meetings, and business travel.
●Monitor purchase orders, ensuring fulfillment of quantities, pricing accuracy, and proper maintenance of price level sheets.
●Prepare sales forecasts and projections, and support budgeting processes for both sales and expenses.
●Fulfill customer requests such as providing samples, documentation, and other required materials.
●Provide support to merchandising teams when necessary.
●Communicate with distributors to develop new accounts and maintain existing relationships.
●Propose and update pricing for accounts under the direction of the supervisor.
●Coordinate inventory management and warehouse transfers through internal and external communication.
●Upload compliance documents to customer portals as required.
●Monitor aged receivables, conduct follow-ups, and send payment reminders.
●Support the accounting team with collection activities related to accounts receivable.
●Work in a hybrid environment, with regular office hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30–17:30) and remote work permitted upon prior notice and supervisor approval.
Cross-Functional Liaison Responsibilities
●Serve as a liaison between the sales team and internal/external cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, marketing, and brokers.
●Track lead retrieval activities.
●Manage sample request tracking.
●Gather data and information for new item documentation, meetings, and presentations.
Record Management & Team Support
●Maintain all sales records, presentations, and reports in shared folders for team access and review.
●Provide support to other sales teams as needed, including preparation of sales data.
●Offer assistance to additional sales divisions (e.g., industrial or eco-related sales teams) upon request.
Qualifications( Required ):
●Must have business-level Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent) in speaking, reading, and writing.
●Knowledge and Experience in Food Industry in the US.
● at least 2+ years of sales experience in the food industry or a closely related field in the U.S.
●Strong communication and interpersonal skills
●Cooperative, team-oriented, and able to work long-term
●Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
●Travel including planning and arranging. Traveling required up to 50%.
● Able to schedule by own planning and follow it to accomplish given tasks.
● Must have valid authorization to work in the United States

Education and Experience:
●Bachelor’s degree in art, Science, Food (Culinary) or related field.
Substitution for Education:
● Three years progressively responsible experience in Foodservice and/or distribution environment.
Demonstrate familiarity with related fields of responsibilities.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
