The Fairview Church Ministries Custodian /Maintenance worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of assigned church facilities. They must perform a variety of tasks related to cleaning and maintenance, including minor repairs. They will also track supply inventories with basic reporting to the Facilities Manager. They will report any major breakdowns or issues to the Facilities Manager in a timely manner.
Status: Full time, non-exempt.
Hours: Monday -Friday, (Flexible with approval) , limited weekends as needed.
Meetings: Mandatory weekly meeting with Facilities Manager (Flexible)
Reports to: Facilities Manager, Executive Director
Overview of Duties/Responsibilities:
· Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, offices, public areas and workspaces
· Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and carpet cleaning.
· Dusting furniture, walls, machines and equipment
· Emptying, cleaning, and lining waste containers
· Room set up and take down for special events.
· Monitoring and restocking supplies in restrooms, break rooms and common areas
· Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, unclogging toilets, maintaining vacuums and equipment etc.
· Ensuring all spaces are prepared and cleaned for the next day or special event
· Exterior care including removal of fire ants, wasps and nests, and bird nests, removing trash
· Adhering to the safety and health policies as set by the employer
· Inspecting premises for issues and breakdowns and reporting to the facilities manager
· Maintaining Exterior sidewalks during the winter to ensure walkways are free of ice and snow.
· Other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge /Skill/ Experience Required:
· Proven experience as a custodial worker
· Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
· Knowledge of safe storage and disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components
· Familiar with basic handyman practices
· Attention to detail and conscientious
· Self-starter and independent worker
· Minimum High School diploma preferred
