Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals navigating mental health conditions and substance use disorders, sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope.
- Conduct crisis management and intervention, utilizing skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing to de-escalate situations effectively.
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with clients through active listening, client communication, and culturally sensitive engagement with diverse communities.
- Assist clients in developing recovery plans, setting goals, and connecting them with appropriate behavioral health services, harm reduction resources, and social support networks.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within the healthcare system, promoting recovery peer support and peer support advocacy to empower self-determination.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with privacy laws and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for clients with co-occurring disorders and behavioral health needs.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions in a supportive or counseling capacity.
- Proven ability to manage crises effectively through crisis management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with behavioral health concepts, addiction counseling, harm reduction approaches, and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities to ensure inclusive and respectful support services.
- Background in social work, peer support advocacy, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Personal lived experience of recovery from substance use or mental health challenges is strongly valued and often required as part of peer support roles.

Pay: $23.97 - $28.87 per hour
