Duties
- Supervise children across different age groups, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school-age children, ensuring their safety at all times
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social development
- Provide attentive care during routines such as feeding, diapering, nap times, and outdoor play
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized environment that adheres to health and safety standards
- Apply behavior management techniques to encourage positive conduct and emotional well-being
- Follow mandated reporting laws by accurately documenting incidents or concerns related to child safety or well-being
- Ensure compliance with all childcare regulations including first aid, CPR certification requirements, and early childhood education standards
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare centers, preschools, babysitting, nannying, or youth programs
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
- Demonstrated ability to care for infants through elementary school-age children with patience and compassion
- Certification in first aid and CPR from an accredited organization is required; ongoing training preferred
- Strong communication skills for effective parent engagement and teamwork within a childcare environment
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies tailored to young children’s needs
- Ability to follow mandated reporting laws diligently and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive situations
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
