Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and dependable individual with MIG welding and fabrication experience to join our team as a Gate Automation Technician Apprentice.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, learning new skills, and building a career in the gate automation industry.
Welding and fabrication will be approximately 20% of the job. The remaining time will involve installation, service, mechanical work, electrical assistance, troubleshooting, and general field duties.
We provide training to help the right candidate develop into a fully qualified gate automation service technician.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding and metal fabrication tasks
- Cut, modify, and install metal components
- Assist with gate operator installations
- Assist with gate repairs and maintenance
- Learn gate automation systems and troubleshooting
- Perform basic mechanical tasks
- Dig trenches and holes by hand when required
- Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
- Use hand tools and power tools safely
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Maintain company tools and equipment
- Follow safety procedures
- Provide professional customer service
- Complete assigned tasks with attention to detail
Required Qualifications
- MIG Welding and fabrication experience required
- Ability to pass a welding/fabrication skills test
- Willingness to learn new skills and receive training
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable performing physical labor
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic electrical experience (a plus, but not required)
- Gate, fencing, construction, or equipment experience
- Experience using power tools
- Experience reading measurements and basic layouts
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Training & Career Growth
This position includes a training program designed to develop your skills in:
- Gate automation systems
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Access control systems
- Gate automation and access control equipment
- Mechanical repairs
- Customer service
- Installation procedures
The goal is to develop this position into a full-service technician role capable of independently handling installations and service calls.
Pay & Advancement
Starting pay:
$17-20hour depending on experience
As skills and responsibilities increase, technicians have the opportunity to advance.
Experienced, fully trained service technicians have earning potential of:
$25+/hour
