Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and manage check-in/check-out procedures with professionalism and efficiency
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software -open dental
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance claims processing with knowledge of health insurance policies and CPT/ICD coding standards
- Collect payments, process billing, and perform accurate medical collection activities while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Meditech, Epic, or eClinicalWorks to maintain precise and up-to-date patient documentation
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and handling patient inquiries promptly
- Review medical records for accuracy, ensure compliance with documentation review protocols, and assist in maintaining organized filing systems for medical records and dental files
Skills
- Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist with strong clinic experience in a fast-paced environment
- Previous dental office experience preferred
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential
- Knowledge of dental billing procedures including insurance verification, Medicare processes, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing) for efficient data entry and documentation review
- Strong understanding of dental terminology combined with medical terminology to facilitate seamless communication within clinical teams
- Ability to handle complex health insurance policies and health information management while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette to create positive patient interactions from initial contact through appointment completion
