Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized medication plans for critically ill patients.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physiology and anatomy knowledge, to determine appropriate pharmacotherapy strategies.
- Manage complex medication regimens, including IV infusions, acute pain management, oncology treatments, and emergency medications.
- Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance by adhering to drug regulation standards and hospital policies.
- Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) for medication ordering, verification, and documentation to streamline clinical workflows.
- Precept pharmacy residents and students, providing guidance on clinical practices within critical care settings.
- Monitor patient responses to therapies, adjusting medications as needed to optimize outcomes while minimizing adverse effects.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during preparation of sterile medications and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
- Stay current with advances in critical care pharmacology, including trauma center protocols and managed care practices.
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience with a focus on ICU, trauma centers (Level I & II), and emergency room environments.
- Strong pharmacy residency background with post-residency experience in acute care settings.
- Proficiency in managing complex medication therapies such as IV infusions, pain management, and oncology treatments.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards and drug regulation policies.
- Experience with hospital pharmacy systems (PIS) for medication management and documentation.
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments utilizing medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and patient service skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in aseptic technique and medication administration within high-pressure environments.
- Skilled in precepting pharmacy students or residents in clinical practice settings.
- Familiarity with managed care principles and hospital medicine practices within a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across departments and with patients’ families.
