Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced CDL Class A Driver to join our team, specializing in the transportation of heavy equipment using Landoll and Lowboy trailers, as well as performing heavy-duty towing and recovery with Class A wreckers. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and has a strong understanding of DOT regulations, load securement, and heavy equipment handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport construction and industrial machinery using Landoll or Lowboy trailers
- Operate heavy-duty wreckers to tow and recover disabled commercial vehicles and equipment
- Perform proper load securement using chains, binders, straps, and other appropriate methods
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and equipment
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate logs, inspection reports, and delivery paperwork
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and job site personnel
- Operate winches, hydraulics, and other specialized equipment for recoveries
- Perform roadside recovery tasks, including winching, up-righting overturned vehicles, and load shifts
- Respond to emergency calls as needed (may include nights, weekends, or holidays)
Requirements:
- Valid CDL Class A with a clean driving record
- Minimum [X] years of experience hauling heavy equipment and/or operating heavy wreckers
- Experience with Landoll, Lowboy, and other specialized trailers
- Knowledge of safe load securement practices for heavy machinery
- Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts if required
- TWIC card, OSHA certification, or other endorsements (a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with heavy-duty towing and recovery
- Certification in heavy recovery operations (e.g., WreckMaster, TRAA, CTTA)
- Hydraulic system operation experience
