Ottawa County Road Commission is searching for a Diesel Mechanic working out of our North Holland garage.
We are looking for a candidate with a background in diesel mechanics and heavy equipment. Some of the responsibilities would include:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel engines to light truck gas engines.
- Perform brake and suspension repairs on trucks and equipment.
- Conduct welding and fabrication as needed (Build snowplow trucks)
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair Air Conditioning systems.
- Service and troubleshoot emissions and after-treatment systems (DPF, SCR, DEF EGR)
- Perform electrical and wiring diagnostics using schematics and diagnostics.
- Complete preventive maintenance inspections
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic
- Strong engine repair and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of air brake and suspension systems
- Background in welding/fabrication
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics
- Strong knowledge of emissions and aftertreatment systems
- Able to troubleshoot electrical/wiring issues.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
Mechanics shall be capable of operating all County equipment which requires a CDL-A license however this can be obtained during the first nine months of employment in which Ottawa County Road Commission will assist with this process at minimal cost to the employee.
The position available has a starting wage of $35.39 per hour during the probationary period with increases during this process. Ottawa County Road Commission offers a very good health insurance plan and other benefits. This position is first shift.
