HVAC Technician / Service Plumber
Maryland, Virginia & Washington D.C.
$25–$55 / hr. negotiable · EPA 608 Type II required · Dual trade role · 24/7 on-call · Overtime available

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
EPA Section 608 — Type II Required · minimum certification
EPA 608 Universal Preferred · higher pay potential
Plumbing experience preferred but not required
MD HVAC License Preferred or ability to obtain

HVAC DUTIES
- Install A/C units, boilers, heat pumps, hot water equipment, and geothermal systems
- Perform repairs and troubleshooting using schematics, electrical diagnostics, and ohmmeters
- Diagnose HVAC/R equipment issues and execute effective, code-compliant repairs
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems
- Read and interpret HVAC design plans, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
- Handle refrigerant recovery, recharge, and disposal per EPA 608 regulations
- Maintain detailed service records, logs and pictures for all work performed
PLUMBING DUTIES
- Perform rough, finish, and service plumbing for residential and light commercial projects
- Install water heaters, boilers, fixtures, pumps, and piping systems
- Install and repair plumbing piping, fixtures, and new construction systems
- Diagnose and repair plumbing issues with confidence and efficiency
- Read and work from plans, specs, and schematics
- Ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing codes and safety standards
- Rough in new construction HVAC and plumbing systems
What we're looking for
- EPA Section 608 Certification — Type II minimum (required)
- 3+ years of HVAC and/or plumbing service experience (residential and/or commercial)
- Strong mechanical knowledge of boilers, A/C units (central air and mini splits), and refrigeration equipment
- Plumbing experience is a must — dual-trade candidates strongly preferred
- Experience with building automation systems and electrical diagnostics
- Proficient with hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, ohmmeters, and multimeters
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Experience with payment collection and selling is a plus
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Strong customer service skills — comfortable explaining system functions and collecting payment
- Availability for 24/7 on-call rotation and overtime, including weekends and holidays
