Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable Diesel Mechanic specializing in light-duty diesel vehicles to join our maintenance team. The Mechanic will be responsible for the safe and timely diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of our fleet. This role is critical to minimizing downtime, requiring expertise in modern diesel systems, a strong commitment to safety, and reliable diagnostic skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostic tests on light-duty diesel engines, transmissions, electrical, and hydraulic systems using both computerized and manual methods.
- Execute skilled repairs and preventative maintenance (PMs) on vehicles, including oil changes, brake systems, suspension, and driveline components.
- Complete accurate service documentation, including repair orders, labor time, and parts used, using our maintenance tracking system.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local safety standards, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and shop safety protocols.
- Perform emergency road calls for mechanical failures on fleet vehicles within the operating territory as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring shop tools and equipment are properly utilized and secured.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors and drivers regarding repair timelines and vehicle readiness.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old with a proven track record of experience as a Diesel or Automotive Mechanic.
- Experience performing diagnostics and repair on light-duty diesel engines (e.g., Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins 5.9/6.7L).
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors or in a garage environment in varying weather conditions.
- A clean driving record is required; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
