Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations during route driving.
- Load and unload cargo using manual lifting techniques, pallet jacks, ensuring items are secured properly for transit.
- Deliver goods to customers’ locations promptly while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Verify delivery orders, obtain signatures, and complete delivery documentation accurately.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure optimal operation; report any maintenance issues immediately.
- Assist with warehouse activities such as moving inventory, organizing supplies, and preparing shipments for delivery.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatchers regarding route progress, delays, or issues encountered during deliveries.
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably with box trucks or similar commercial vehicles.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Experience with warehouse operations including heavy lifting, moving inventory, and using equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating manual transmission vehicles preferred.
- Knowledge of route driving best practices and safety protocols for heavy vehicle operation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy packages and loading/unloading cargo efficiently.
