ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In conjunction with the specialty hospital Executive Director and Director of Nursing, the coordinator will oversee the daily operations the continuum of surgical services and med-surg nursing departments, ensuring high-quality patient care, staff efficiency, and compliance with hospital policies.
Clinical & Operational Leadership:
- Supervise nursing and support staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and hospital policies.
- Coordinate surgical case flow to optimize OR efficiency and minimize delays throughout all departments.
- Assist in developing and enforcing policies and procedures to maintain safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a liaison between the surgical team, anesthesiologists, and other departments to facilitate seamless patient care.
- Ensure proper staffing levels by assisting with scheduling, assignments, and workload distribution.
- Monitors work status and progress.
- Assists in the recruiting, hiring, orientation, development, and evaluation of all staff.
- Ensures that patients are treated courteously by all staff and that other visitors are screened and properly directed.
- Ensures that requests for information are handled promptly and effectively.
- Works with other administrative staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and high-quality patient care is provided.
- Participates in professional development activities.
Patient Care & Safety:
- Monitor and evaluate patient care practices to ensure compliance with clinical standards and protocols.
- Support nursing staff in managing complex patient cases and responding to emergencies.
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying and addressing potential risks or hazards throughout the hospital.
- Maintain proper documentation of patient care, safety incidents, and quality improvement measures.
