Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial integrity. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience with multiple financial software platforms, and a thorough understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Perform account reconciliations for balance sheets and subsidiary ledgers, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial statement preparation and audit support.
- Assist with complex technical accounting tasks such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, and compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
- Utilize various financial software systems such as Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, ADP, and UltiPro to ensure accurate data entry and reporting.
- Conduct data analysis using Excel spreadsheets for financial reporting and decision-making purposes.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
- Support internal controls related to SOX compliance and assist in process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, audit, payroll, and external auditors to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or pursuing CPA certification is preferred.
- Previous experience with Tribal would be helpful.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles as well as governmental accounting standards when applicable.
- Experience with technical accounting concepts including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
- Familiarity with financial systems like Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro for payroll management; Paychex for HR/payroll processing; and Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills including data analysis.
- Knowledge of internal controls related to SOX compliance is highly desirable.
- Excellent numeracy skills along with the ability to perform detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact professionally across departments and with external auditors.
