Full-Time: Day Shift - Behavior Technician - Severe Behavior Program (Inpatient & Outpatient) - Rotating Weekends and Holidays Required.
12-Hour Shift (7am-7:30pm)
Job Overview
We’re seeking compassionate, motivated, and dedicated Behavior Technicians to join Michigan’s first hospital-based Severe Behavior Program. As part of the program’s launch team, you’ll play an integral role in shaping a groundbreaking model of care that serves children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and severe behavior challenges. You’ll work under the supervision of a BCBA/BCBA-D within a multidisciplinary hospital team.
We’re looking for individuals who are committed to growing with the program, those who bring reliability, professionalism, and resilience during the start-up phase and want to see the impact of their efforts as the program matures. Preference is given to candidates pursuing a long-term career in Applied Behavior Analysis, those currently completing supervision toward BCBA certification, or those with a strong interest in advancing within the behavioral health field.
Duties
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group ABA therapy sessions;
- Teach communication, social, and self-help skills;
- Support daily living skills (e.g., hygiene, meals, toileting) as needed;
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans and safety procedures;
- Collect and record data to track progress on treatment goals;
- Maintain clear and timely documentation;
- Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team collaboration;
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental or behavior challenges (ABA experience preferred);
- Strong communication, teamwork, and data collection skills;
- Ability to remain calm and professional during behavioral or medical crisis;
- Must be comfortable and confident supporting children with severe or aggressive behaviors, wearing protective equipment when needed;
- Reliable transportation required;
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, education, social work, or related field;
- Candiates pursuing a Master's Degree in ABA or psychology are strongly encouraged to apply;
- RBT certification is preferred;
- BLS certification required before starting;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook);
- Will be required to pass background check and fingerprinting;
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and their application in a clinical environment is required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective collaboration with team members and families.
