American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Medical Surgical Oncology position at a teaching hospital, requiring an active MI RN license and 2 years of BMT unit experience.

Pediatric Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a children's teaching hospital
-
Patient population includes leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other blood dyscrasias
-
1:2 patient ratio
-
Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
Every other weekend required
-
Call requirements apply

Unit performs cell and gene therapy administration, blood product administration, chemotherapy and conditioning treatment, supportive care, and triage
-
Active Michigan RN license required in-hand at time of consideration (compact license not accepted)

BLS certification required
-
Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required

Bone marrow transplant (BMT) unit experience required
-
Experience administering cells not required
-
Teaching hospital experience preferred
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Skills in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line care, chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and symptom management for oncology patients

Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
-
Two professional references required from a manager or supervisor (charge RNs not accepted)

Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy, biotherapy, and stem cell/CAR-T therapy administration

Coordinate care and provide patient/family education and psychosocial support

Utilize neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
-
Perform telephone triage and care coordination duties
-
No pre-hire training modules required; onboarding modules completed onsite during orientation

Required certifications must be obtained prior to start date

Previous perm staff may return as travelers after a 1-year separation
