Position Summary
Mbroh Engineering Inc. is seeking a talented and driven Roadway Design Engineer (PE) to join our growing team, with opportunities in our Oklahoma and Texas offices. This role will support the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation projects, including roadway geometry, drainage, and grading design.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in transportation engineering, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions that prioritize safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction. This position also offers opportunities for project management, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead and/or support roadway projects through the full lifecycle, from kickoff and planning through design, construction support, and project closeout.
- Perform roadway design for transportation projects, including horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage, and grading.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) and cost estimates for roadway and related infrastructure projects.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, including setup, forecasting, and ongoing tracking.
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals and objectives are met.
- Utilize engineering design software (e.g., OpenRoads, MicroStation AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to develop design documents and plans.
- Conduct quality control reviews of engineering deliverables and ensure adherence to company and client standards.
- Provide construction phase support, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with contractors.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Assist with project proposals, interviews, and client presentations.
- Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and regulations to ensure best practices are applied.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas and/or Oklahoma (or ability to obtain).
- 5-10+ years of experience in roadway and transportation design.
- Experience with TxDOT, ODOT, municipal, or other transportation agency projects preferred.
- Proficiency in roadway industry-standard design software (MircroStation, OpenRoads, MicroStationAutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
- Ability to develop roadway geometrics, 3D models, drainage and stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control.
- Strong understanding of roadway design standards, drainage, and grading principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff is a plus.
- Proposal writing/marketing experience is a plus
