We are looking for a reliable and friendly Cashier / Customer Service Representative to join our Japanese grocery retail team. This position is responsible for helping customers, operating the POS system, handling payments accurately, stocking products, and keeping the store clean, organized, and welcoming.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment, and able to provide polite and helpful customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Operate the POS system and process cash, credit card, and digital payments accurately
- Handle cash responsibly and balance the register at the end of the shift
- Answer customer questions and help customers find products
- Restock shelves, organize displays, and keep products neat and easy to find
- Follow store policies and food safety guidelines
- Communicate with managers and team members about customer needs, product issues, or inventory shortages
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- Bilingual in English and Japanese is required
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Experience using a POS system is a plus
- Interest in Japanese food, snacks, drinks, or retail products is a plus
Experience
- Prior experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures is essential
- Supervising experience or leadership roles are a plus, demonstrating ability to guide team members effectively
- Bilingual skills are advantageous for serving a diverse customer base
- Strong communication skills and friendly phone etiquette are critical for engaging customers both in person and over the phone
- Knowledge of merchandising, product demos, upselling techniques, and retail math will help maximize sales opportunities
- Basic math skills are necessary for accurate cash handling and retail calculations

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
