Job Summary
The Breakfast Cook / Attendant is responsible for preparing, presenting, and maintaining the hotel's complimentary breakfast service while providing friendly and attentive service to our guests. This position plays an important role in creating a positive guest experience by ensuring that breakfast is well stocked, fresh, clean, organized, and available to guests throughout the scheduled service period.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, energetic, and comfortable working independently. The Breakfast Cook / Attendant must maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, presentation, and guest service.
Essential Responsibilities
Breakfast Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook breakfast items according to hotel standards and established recipes.
- Set up the breakfast area before service begins, ensuring all food, beverages, utensils, condiments, and supplies are properly stocked.
- Monitor food levels throughout breakfast and replenish items as needed.
- Maintain attractive and organized food presentation.
- Ensure food is served at appropriate temperatures and according to food safety standards.
- Monitor the breakfast area throughout service and respond promptly to guest needs.
- Prepare additional food as necessary to accommodate guest demand.
- Check expiration dates and properly rotate food products using FIFO practices.
- Minimize food waste while maintaining adequate availability for guests.
Guest Service
- Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain a welcoming and positive presence in the breakfast area.
- Answer guest questions regarding breakfast items and hotel amenities.
- Assist guests with special requests whenever reasonably possible.
- Quickly address spills, empty containers, or other issues that may affect the guest experience.
- Thank guests and maintain a service-oriented attitude throughout the breakfast period.
- Report guest concerns or service issues to management promptly.
Cleanliness & Sanitation
- Maintain the breakfast area, kitchen, counters, tables, floors, and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces and equipment before, during, and after service.
- Clear and clean tables throughout breakfast service.
- Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and other breakfast-service items as required.
- Properly dispose of trash and recycling.
- Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and hotel procedures.
- Maintain personal hygiene and proper food-handling practices at all times.
Opening & Closing Duties
- Complete breakfast setup prior to the scheduled opening time.
- Ensure all breakfast equipment is operating properly and report any issues to management.
- Complete closing procedures, including proper storage of food, cleaning of equipment, sanitizing surfaces, and securing food products.
- Restock supplies for the following morning.
- Complete required breakfast checklists and temperature logs.
- Report shortages, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or other operational issues to management.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with inventory and communicate low-stock items to management.
- Receive and properly store breakfast deliveries when applicable.
- Maintain organized storage areas.
- Assist with other hotel operational duties as assigned.
- Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Maintain a professional appearance and wear the required uniform.
- Work cooperatively with the Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Management teams.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, breakfast service, hospitality, or a similar position preferred.
- Basic cooking experience required.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to remain organized and productive during busy breakfast periods.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with the position.
- Ability to lift and carry food supplies and equipment as reasonably required.
- Food handler certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification if required.
Schedule
The Breakfast Cook / Attendant must be available to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential, as breakfast preparation must be completed before the scheduled guest service period begins.

The Breakfast Cook / Attendant is an important part of the hotel's guest experience. The expectation is not only to prepare breakfast, but to actively monitor the breakfast area, anticipate guest needs, and ensure that every guest has a clean, pleasant, and well-maintained breakfast experience.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
