Summary
A transportation company is seeking a Terminal Manager to oversee all aspects of our transportation and logistics operations. This role involves managing City and Line Haul Drivers, dock personnel, and office staff while ensuring optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness across operations. The Terminal Manager will monitor payroll and expenses, assist in sales efforts to expand our customer base, and schedule line hauls to meet service commitments. Additionally, the successful candidate will maintain staffing levels, ensure quality control of equipment and freight, manage documentation and reports, and respond promptly to internal and customer inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for all City Drivers, Line haul Drivers, dock personnel, and help maintain the office staff.
- Monitor payroll costs to ensure that we are operating as efficiently as possible.
- Review all expense areas in order to keep costs to a minimum.
- Assist the sales department in maintaining and expanding our customer base. This will include direct sales on your part, as well as joint calls with our Director of National Sales.
- Schedule all line hauls to ensure that we meet our service requirements.
- Continuing to monitor dispatch boards on Pick-up side and Delivery side, as well as monitoring incorrect dates on PODs.
- Maintain proper staffing to ensure that all customers receive the service that we have committed to.
- Ensure minimal misrouted and damaged freight.
- Quality Control of Forklifts, Trailers, Vehicles, and warehouse.
- Be responsible for drivers logs, trip reports (fuel receipts), vehicle inspections, trailer inspections and ensure they all are maintained in order and filed in an organized manner.
- Respond to all emails to customers and in-house personnel in a prompt manner.
- Take on a creative approach to finding solutions to problems.
- Timely training on all material issued for Safety and Corporate memos.
- Daily upkeep of the Unprocessed Report to ensure maximum revenue is processed each day/week. Invoicing is once a week on Wednesday it bills through the previous Sunday. We also close the previous month the first week of the new month.
- Participate in management meeting when looking to discuss future growth of the company and your immediate station.
- Monitor terminal on site daily to ensure accuracies and well-being of local operations.
- Fill in for employees who are out on PTO or termed.
- Actively participate with HR & Safety Department to fill any gaps in staff.
Requirements
- 3-5 years LTL transportation industry experience.
- At least 1 year of air freight experience is a must.
- Proven sales experience in both face-to-face interactions and phone-based communication.
- Must be a problem solver
- Previous trucking management experience preferred.
- Hands on - ability to manage and operate in office and warehouse environment effectively and efficiently.
- Fast-paced environment and must be able to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills are a must.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Must be able to pass company background check and drug screen.
