Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, medical billing, insurance verification, and medical terminology. Bilingual abilities and clinic experience are highly valued to ensure effective communication with diverse patient populations and seamless clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and provide excellent front desk customer service
- Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and cancellations using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, and Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and process insurance claims accurately
- Collect payments and perform medical billing tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and documentation review
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist patients with inquiries
- Handle intake procedures including data entry and document collection
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers for care plans and follow-up appointments
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies
- Support medical administrative functions such as insurance verification, patient check-in/out, and health information management
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role; clinic or dental office experience is preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and Medicare guidelines
- Strong understanding of medical terminology across various specialties including dental terminology if applicable
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office management software such as Meditech or Dentrix
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Strong interpersonal skills including patience, professionalism, and excellent phone etiquette
- Prior experience in hospital or healthcare settings is advantageous
