Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Provide direct patient care through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, and functional training to promote recovery.
- Monitor patient progress, document responses to treatments, and communicate updates effectively to the healthcare team.
- Perform specialized procedures including trigger point therapy and other physiotherapy techniques aimed at alleviating pain and improving mobility.
- Support discharge planning by educating patients and caregivers on home exercises, safety measures, and ongoing care strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments administered, patient responses, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in inpatient, outpatient, or home health settings to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
Requirements
- Current certification or licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience working in inpatient settings or skilled nursing facilities; experience in outpatient clinics or home health is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy principles.
- Skilled in various therapeutic techniques including trigger point therapy and other manual therapies.
- Familiarity with care plans for diverse populations such as orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care patients.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and coordinate with healthcare teams.
