Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision parts that meet quality standards. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will drive efficiency and excellence in our production processes. Duties
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, ensuring optimal performance and precision.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to produce accurate components.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions.
- Maintain machine tools by performing routine inspections, adjustments, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for machining operations; ensure proper tool setup for each job.
- Follow safety protocols diligently when operating power tools, welding equipment, or handling plastics injection molding processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development, tooling design, and process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
Skills
- Extensive experience with CNC programming languages such as G-code; familiarity with Fanuc controls is a plus.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings.
- Proficiency in using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar for part design review.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for complex or hard materials.
- Ability to operate various machining equipment including CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and associated hand tools.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Familiarity with tooling selection, setup procedures, and the use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Experience working within manufacturing environments that utilize lean manufacturing practices for continuous process improvement.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely when moving raw materials or finished parts; certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is advantageous for those involved in related manufacturing tasks.
