Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lactation Consultant IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) to join our dedicated maternal and neonatal health team. This paid position offers an opportunity to support breastfeeding and maternal-infant health by providing expert guidance, education, and case management. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, cultural competence, and a passion for empowering families through evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized breastfeeding support and education to postpartum and prenatal patients, including those with complex needs or medical complications.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of lactating individuals, utilizing physiology knowledge and medical terminology to develop tailored care plans.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care during labor & delivery, prenatal visits, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Deliver engaging presentations and health education sessions on topics such as breastfeeding techniques, neonatal care, nutrition, and anatomy knowledge to diverse audiences.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems to document patient interactions accurately and maintain detailed case management records.
- Support public health initiatives by participating in community outreach programs aimed at promoting maternal health and breastfeeding support across diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Analyze data related to breastfeeding outcomes and patient satisfaction to identify opportunities for quality improvement in maternal-infant services.
Qualifications
- Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is required.
- RN license is requried
- Proven experience in patient care within obstetrics, pediatrics, or neonatal units; familiarity with labor & delivery processes is highly desirable.
- Strong presentation skills with experience in public speaking and health education delivery.
- Multilingual abilities are preferred to effectively serve diverse populations.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and neonatal resuscitation procedures relevant to lactation support.
- Proficiency in working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds and understanding public health principles related to maternal health.
- Data analysis skills for evaluating patient outcomes and program effectiveness; experience with EMR/EHR systems is essential.
- Excellent client communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient education and support.
