About Dance4Healing
Dance4Healing is an award-winning, NIH-funded social impact startup building a patented AI telehealth platform that uses music, dance, Arts and Health practices, and social connection to make healthy habits more accessible, supportive, and engaging.
Inspired by its founder’s recovery from Stage IV cancer, Dance4Healing serves older adults, caregivers, people living with chronic disease, and underserved communities.
This is a 100% remote internship with an international cohort of students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals.
Why This Internship Is Different
This is not a traditional writing internship.
In addition to contributing to real grant, book, and editorial projects, interns receive:

Two Connected WorkstreamsGrant and Application Development
Support grant proposals, funding applications, partnership materials, and research-driven communications for Dance4Healing’s health-equity and social-impact work.
Stage IV Book and Editorial Development
Support the founder’s book, Stage IV: Stage for Creative Metamorphosis, which brings together memoir, expressive writing, poetry, interviews, medical research, healthcare innovation, Arts and Health, cultural identity, and practical wisdom gained through cancer and personal transformation.
Assignments may focus more heavily on one workstream based on project priorities and the intern’s strengths.
What You’ll Work On
You may:
- Research health, funding, market, cultural, and social-impact topics using credible sources.
- Summarize evidence accurately and maintain organized citations and source records.
- Draft, edit, and proofread grant proposals, applications, book chapters, articles, and related materials.
- Translate scientific and technical information into clear, human-centered language.
- Help connect the founder’s lived experience and personal narrative with credible research and broader healthcare perspectives.
- Support long-form narrative structure, clarity, pacing, continuity, and preservation of the founder’s authentic voice.
- Prepare background research and questions for interviews with patients, caregivers, researchers, healthcare professionals, artists, designers, and innovators.
- Review transcripts and help develop interviews into book passages, articles, or educational content.
- Identify relevant grant opportunities and organize requirements, deadlines, and submission materials.
- Assist with grant budgets and budget justifications under supervision.
- Use approved GenAI tools for outlining, research support, editing, transcript review, and workflow organization while verifying all outputs.
Who We’re Looking For
- Student, recent graduate, or early-career applicant in writing, journalism, communications, English, creative writing, publishing, public health, science communication, or a related field
- Strong English writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Ability to research unfamiliar topics and evaluate sources carefully
- Interest in both evidence-based writing and human storytelling
- Ability to preserve an author’s voice rather than rewriting everything into a generic style
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Emotional maturity and cultural sensitivity when working with personal stories involving illness, family, grief, healthcare, and identity
- Reliable communication in a remote environment
- Openness to feedback, revision, and collaborative learning
- Interest in health equity, patient advocacy, aging, chronic disease, caregiving, Arts and Health, or healthcare innovation
- Willingness to use GenAI responsibly and verify its outputs
- Commitment to confidentiality when working with unpublished and personal material
Equivalent experience, independent projects, and strong writing samples are welcome.
Helpful but Not Required
- Grant or proposal writing
- Memoir, creative nonfiction, journalism, or long-form editing
- Science, health, or public-health writing
- Interview, oral-history, podcast, or transcript experience
- Citation management or research-source tracking
- Bilingual, immigrant, international, or cross-cultural storytelling experience
You do not need to be an experienced grant writer or book editor. Curiosity, judgment, writing potential, and follow-through matter more than buzzwords.

Logistics & Transparency
- Format: 100% remote
- Time commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and agreed deadlines
