Overview
Join our dynamic team as a PEVO Certified Over-Size/Over-Weight (OS/OW) Escort Driver Team Leader, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of oversized and heavy haul loads. This position is perfect for experienced drivers with a passion for safety, precision, and professionalism. We require 1-3 years of experience pilot driving. We are looking for motivated leaders with 2 years of experience in a leadership role. CDL A preferred, not required.
This position is 10-14 days out on the road, with 2-3 days at home.
Onboarding is located in Dayton, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Escort oversized and heavy haul loads through designated routes, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and legal requirements
- Coordinate with dispatch, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth transit operations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of escort vehicles, checking mechanical systems, safety equipment, and communication devices
- Maintain clear communication with drivers, clients, and authorities throughout each escort operation
- Assist with loading and unloading using self propelled equipment
Skills
- PEVO certification is required
- CDL A preferred
- Proven experience in commercial escort driving involving heavy or oversized loads
- Strong knowledge of heavy haul regulations and traffic laws related to OS/OW transportation
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot common issues
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks when necessary
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and external agencies
- Experience with load & unload procedures is a plus
