H.J. Martin and Son is a specialty contractor with services in residential & commercial flooring, commercial glass, walls & ceilings, doors, hardware & specialties, and millwork & FF&E, along with national retail solutions, including fixture installation. Founded in 1931, the fourth-generation company works nationwide from its headquarters in Green Bay, Wis.
Position Description: We are seeking a CAD Technician to work in our Glass & Glazing division.
CAD Technician Principal Responsibilities:
- Produce storefront and curtain wall shop drawings based on architectural drawings and specifications
- Compile product data, test reports, and samples for submittal to General Contractor and Architect
- Supply fabrication drawings and material cut sheets to the fabrication shop
- Provide Project Managers stock length reports and glass sizes using ACIST (AutoCAD add-on program)
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve when unexpected issues arise on a project to minimize the lost time and ensure customer satisfaction
- Execute & follow through on any assignments given by Project Manager
Other Duties As Assigned: Performs other related duties as assigned including supporting team members in the completion of their work for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the business.
Experience/Education Required:
- 2-year CAD associate degree, preferred but not required
- Experience and knowledge in several aspects of construction is also preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office programs is required
- Ability to read blueprints to determine subcontract work needed
- Self-starter who is very organized, flexible, and team oriented is required
- Must have valid driver’s license
