Overview
We are seeking a dependable, professional, and compassionate Mortuary Transporter to assist with the transfer of deceased individuals into our care. This position requires someone who can manage their time effectively and maintain the the highest level of dignity and professionalism. This is a 6am-6pm position with a schedule requiring rotating weekends.
Responsibilities
- Safely and respectfully transfer deceased individuals from hospitals, nursing facilities, residences, or other places of passing
- Interact appropriately and compassionately with families, healthcare personnel, law enforcement, coroners, and other funeral professionals
- Accurately complete and maintain required documentation
- Verify identification and other information for accuracy
- Safely operate company vehicles and keep transportation equipment clean and ready for use
- Navigate throughout the city and surrounding communities efficently, including unfamiliar locations
- Complete long distance transfers when necessary
- Assist with funeral home and mortuary duties
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with families and customers.
- Ability to work independently and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Excellent time management skills to adhere to schedules reliably.
- Must pass background checks as required by company policies.
- Ability to lift over 100 pounds
- Comfortable with extended periods of driving and occasional long distance travel
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Mortuary Student or Funeral Home experience preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
This position is physically demanding. Candidates must be able to:
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and manuever significant weight
- Safely assist in transferring deceased individuals of varying weights and sizes
- operate stretchers, cots, removal equipment, and other mortuary equipment
- Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and stand for periods of time
