The Landscape Estimator is responsible for performing accurate landscape maintenance estimates, calculating all the costs associated with work materials, labor, and equipment, for new customers or new projects that come from our account managers.
Landscape Maintenance
- Collaborate with account managers to gather contract specifications and requirements.
- Perform the estimates on time to meet deadlines set by customers.
- Provide timely and accurate estimates to include mowing, pruning, leaf removal man-hours, cubic yards of mulch, hours for spring clean-up, perennial cut back, bed preparation, flower counts, pond mowing hours to the account managers.
- Discuss the hours and estimate details with account managers to decide if they can be revised or updated in any way by improving efficiencies to provide the most competitive bids.
- Present estimates to account managers in a clear and professional manner, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and related documentation.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews as needed with account managers, property managers or Board of Directors.
- Continuously evaluate and refine the estimation process for improved accuracy and efficiency.
Working Conditions
This position is an indoor/outdoor job that will require exposure to all weather conditions, dust, dirt, chemicals/solvents and odors.
Preferred Experience Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape estimating, preferably in a similar role within the landscaping or construction industry.
- Familiarity with various types of landscaping projects, such as residential or commercial
Preferred Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or certification in Architecture, Horticulture, Construction, or related field.
- Knowledge of local regulations, permits, and codes related to landscaping projects (desirable).
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, techniques, equipment, and best practices.
- Proficiency in using Google Maps and landscape estimating software. Ability to understand maps, details of common areas, and specifics associated with each property.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with various teams and customers.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Requirements
A part of this job requires the employee to be able to stand, walk, or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
