Run and Grow a Metal Fabrication Operation in the Caribbean
Nova Atlas is seeking a highly experienced, bilingual Senior Industrial Engineer / General Manager for a hands-on opportunity to help lead, improve, and grow a metal fabrication and precision manufacturing operation in Puerto Rico.
This role is for a self-directed, business-minded operator who wants real responsibility, direct access to owners in Atlanta, Caribbean-based work, and the opportunity to increase compensation through measurable performance and growth.
This is not a remote consulting role. The successful candidate must be willing and able to be on site in Puerto Rico for at least 1-2 weeks per month.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
· Run the operation with meaningful authority, not layers of corporate red tape.
· Help grow a Puerto Rico manufacturing business with local, U.S., and international potential.
· Work directly with ownership and influence decisions that affect performance, profitability, and growth.
· Earn a strong base with performance-based upside tied to company improvement, customer growth, and agreed business goals.
What You’ll Do
· Lead daily manufacturing operations with the existing team.
· Improve workflow, production efficiency, quality, delivery performance, and cost control.
· Report directly to ownership on company performance, issues, opportunities, and action steps.
· Build and maintain customer relationships, develop rapport with key decision-makers, increase account opportunities, and help drive sales growth.
· Review and support quoting, job costing, production planning, labor utilization, and margin improvement.
· Strengthen CNC machining, metal fabrication, tooling, stamping, fixturing, and process controls.
· Train, mentor, and hold production staff accountable for quality, productivity, safety, and execution.
· Identify bottlenecks, downtime, rework, scrap, and hidden cost drivers, then implement practical solutions.
What We’re Looking For
· Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required; 10+ years strongly preferred.
· Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field preferred.
· Strong bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish required.
· Hands-on experience with metal fabrication, tooling, stamping, forming, fixturing, or precision manufacturing.
· Strong familiarity with CNC machinery, including 4-axis or greater systems.
· Experience supervising production teams and improving manufacturing performance.
· Solid business acumen in job costing, labor efficiency, production output, quality performance, and margin impact.
· Ability to prepare clear reports for ownership with practical recommendations.
· Self-directed work style with the ability to take ownership without daily supervision.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is part engineer, part operator, and part business builder. This person understands the shop floor and also understands that every production decision affects profitability, customer satisfaction, delivery performance, and long-term company value.
This role is best suited for someone who wants autonomy, responsibility, and upside - someone who can lead people, improve systems, build customer confidence, and help grow a serious manufacturing operation in Puerto Rico.
Compensation
Compensation will include a strong base structure with the opportunity for performance-based incentives tied to company growth, customer expansion, operational improvement, and agreed business goals.
