A highly respected, not-for-profit community hospital and the region's only Level III Trauma Center is looking for an experienced Nurse Manager to oversee their Emergency Department. This leader holds full accountability for ED operations, overseeing nursing staff, health unit coordinators, and ED technicians while driving safe, high quality, patient centered emergency care.
The ED Nurse Manager works collaboratively with board certified emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary departments, and hospital leadership to ensure exceptional outcomes across approximately 11,000 annual visits.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation of ED staff (nurses, health unit coordinators, ED technicians)
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume, acuity, arrival patterns, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee daily operations and compliance with CMS, state, and applicable regulatory standards
- Lead quality initiatives focused on key ED metrics — door-to-provider times, LOS, LWBS rates, sepsis care, stroke care, and trauma readiness
- Collaborate with providers and inpatient departments to support efficient patient flow, admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Manage departmental budgets including labor, supplies, equipment, and productivity
- Support development of triage processes, standing orders, clinical protocols, and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Maintain emergency preparedness readiness, including mass casualty incidents and disaster response
- Collaborate with EMS agencies and regional healthcare partners to support continuity of emergency care
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement
- Represent the ED on hospital committees including Quality, Patient Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Trauma, Throughput, and Professional Practice
Qualifications
- Current RN license in New Hampshire required
- BSN preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Minimum 5 years direct Emergency Department staff nursing experience
- Minimum 3 years progressive nursing leadership experience in emergency nursing care
- Demonstrated knowledge of emergency nursing practice, regulatory requirements, quality improvement, and patient throughput principles
- Experience with staffing management, budgeting, and performance improvement initiatives preferred

Pay: $100,000.00 - $128,000.00 per year
