Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, and electrical systems using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair needs.
- Replace or repair shocks & struts, suspension components, tires, brakes, and alignments to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document all repairs performed.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during troubleshooting or component replacement tasks requiring heavy lifting or precise handling.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service delivery while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems including transmissions, suspensions, HVAC systems, and automotive electrical systems.
- Skilled in using schematics, diagnostic software, power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools for repairs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during equipment repair or replacement tasks.
- Familiarity with heavy truck repair, vehicle maintenance for truck drivers, and service technician responsibilities.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as excavators or cranes is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
