ABC Transit is looking for caring, dependable, and safety-focused individuals to join our transportation team! Whether you're an experienced School Bus Driver, a dependable Van Driver, or someone who enjoys working with children as a Bus/Van Monitor, we have an opportunity for you.
Our team plays an essential role in safely transporting students to and from school while creating a positive and respectful environment every day.
Position Responsibilities School Bus Drivers
- Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Operate a school bus in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain student safety and order while on the bus.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while adapting to traffic or weather conditions.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, school staff, parents, and students.
- Complete required reports and documentation accurately.
School Van Drivers
- Safely transport students using a school van.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules.
- Maintain a safe, orderly environment during transportation.
- Report maintenance concerns, incidents, or delays promptly.
- Assist students entering and exiting the vehicle when necessary.
Bus/Van Monitors (Aides)
- Assist students with safely boarding and exiting the bus or van.
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment.
- Support students with special needs as required.
- Ensure safety restraints and seat belts are secured when applicable.
- Communicate student needs or concerns with the driver.
- Report behavioral or safety concerns promptly.
- Follow all company and school district policies and procedures.
Qualifications School Bus Drivers
- Valid CDL Class A or B with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Clean driving record.
- Previous school bus driving experience preferred, but not required.
- Must meet DOT physical requirements.
School Van Drivers
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience driving a van or similar vehicle is preferred, but not required.
Bus/Van Monitors
- No driver's license required.
- Experience working with children is preferred, but not required.
All Positions
- Ability to pass criminal background checks, child abuse clearances, and pre-employment drug testing.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a variety of situations.
Schedule
- Part-time, Monday through Friday
- Morning and afternoon routes based on school schedules
- Additional opportunities may be available for field trips, athletic events, charter trips, and other school activities.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods (Drivers).
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist students as needed (Monitors).
- Ability to assist students entering and exiting the vehicle when necessary.
