Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA and hazardous materials regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, managing logistics cargo handling with precision and care.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize delivery routes while maintaining punctuality and efficiency.
- Transport a variety of freight including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and other specialized cargo such as tanker or flatbed loads.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify truck safety, including checking load securement, brake systems, lights, and tires in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Handle truck loading and unloading processes accurately while adhering to safety protocols for hazardous materials or sensitive freight.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo manifests as required by FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during transit.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT and hazardous materials regulations during transportation activities.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license.
- Demonstrated ability to operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission safely on long-distance routes.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving freight handling, route driving, and customer service is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations related to hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and safety standards.
- Experience handling hazardous materials or dangerous goods is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary.
