About the Role
As a Tower Technician Lead in our Construction Department, you will play a key leadership role on-site, guiding a team of tower technicians through the safe and efficient construction, installation, and modification of telecommunication towers and related structures. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. You’ll oversee daily field operations, ensure quality work completion, and serve as the primary point of contact between field crews and project management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise tower construction crews in the installation, assembly, and modification of telecommunication towers and components.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and industry standards.
- Climb and work at heights while maintaining full adherence to safety procedures.
- Install antennas, mounts, coax lines, and other tower components according to design specifications and drawings.
- Monitor project progress, troubleshoot field challenges, and communicate updates to project management.
- Maintain accurate records, including site documentation, material usage, and job completion reports.
- Train and mentor less experienced technicians, fostering skill development and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure proper maintenance, inspection, and organization of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in telecommunications tower construction or related fields.
- Proven experience leading or supervising tower crews preferred.
- Strong understanding of tower erection, rigging, and installation procedures.
- Must be comfortable climbing and working at heights in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 100% for project assignments.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Authorized/Competent Climber & Rescuer Certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Experience with reading construction drawings and RF design documents.
- Familiarity with gin poles, capstan hoists, and other rigging equipment.
