The Acting EAS Assistant Coordinator is responsible for providing disability and counseling services to students identified with a disability. This position works directly with students and collaboratively with staff to determine academic accommodations, mentor students in developing healthy and effective executive functioning, and support accommodated testing operations.
This position is 1.0 FTE. Typical work hours will be on weekdays between the hours of 7am – 7pm.
This position reports to the Director of Educational Access Services.
OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS
Student Assessment (Intake process)/Mentoring 70%
Accommodations Assessment
- Assess students with disabilities in an interactive process (interview, review of supporting documentation, and consultation with EAS team) to determine appropriate accommodations and the best assistive technology options for academic access.
- Document assessments and interactions of both intake process and ongoing interaction with students and other campus entities for EAS records.
- Document administrative actions and interactions related to students, including in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails with students, family, faculty, staff, and providers.
Student Mentoring
- Provide one-on-one student support for assistive technology such as, JAWS, Zoomtext, Speech to Text software, Text to Speech software, smart pens, digital recording/note taking software, accessibility features specific to platforms etc.
- Develop and maintain training classes in the various assistive technology and executive functioning skills for students with disabilities.
- Support students with use of assistive technology and management skills for accommodated testing needs, as requested. Training before and during testing as needed.
Accommodated Testing Operations 20%:
- Support aspects of exam administration, as needed, including verifying student information; preparing and issuing test materials; preparing hardware and software access and accessibility technology equipment, ensuring a secure testing environment; and triaging issues that occur during testing administration.
- Effective use of electronic scheduling database systems to ensure effective coordination and oversight of testing accommodations.
- Ensure guidelines are followed for maintaining testing integrity.
- Provide and maintain excellent customer service.
Professional Development and Other Support Duties 10%
- Attend professional conferences, webinars, workshops, brown bags, seminars, training sessions, professional organizational meetings committees and Advisory Committee opportunities.
- Summarize latest information to exchange with colleagues and the University community.
- Stay current with research in the field by reviewing publications, journals, OCR rulings, journals, technical information, and upcoming trends related to post-secondary disability issues and assistive technology.

Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Experience: Two years of professional experience working with adolescents and/or adults with disabilities in an educational or other comparable setting.
- One or more years of experience in a customer service setting providing office or administrative support, including use of Microsoft Office Suite that includes Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with handling confidential/sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Social Behavioral Sciences, Education, or Human Resources areas.
- Professional experience in Disability Services and or Special Education.
- Demonstrated experience with case management software.
