Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Transition Coordinator supports students enrolled in Continuing Education (CE) programs as they transition into credit academic pathways and/or the workforce. This position tracks student outcomes, including employment rates and academic transition data, to support the CE programs’ effectiveness. The coordinator connects transitioning students with internal resources such as Financial Aid, Advising, Enrollment Services, and Career Services & Innovation. Additionally, the role develops partnerships with external employers and community organizations to support students transitioning into the workforce.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities-
Maintain an active caseload of CE students; conduct intake, career advising, and goal setting for students transitioning to employment and/or academic programs.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify students nearing program completion and provide proactive transition support.

Manage assigned student caseload by providing ongoing advising, monitoring progress, and facilitating successful transitions into employment or further education.

Utilize the student database system to monitor and document student employment and academic transition outcomes.

Develop and maintain partnerships with employers and community organizations.

Organize presentations to connect transiting students with internal resources such as Financial Aid, Advising, Enrollment Service, and Career Services.

Conduct follow-up outreach with students to monitor post-program outcomes and progress.

Coordinate job placement opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships for continuing education students.

Promote career readiness by referring students to campus and community services such as the Career Services & Innovation Center and Workforce Solutions for South Texas and follow up to confirm successful connection.

Collaborate with CE Coordinators to schedule workshops, employer engagement activities, and student support events in alignment with course schedules.

Participate in community outreach events for the promotion of Continuing Education programs.

Serve as a liaison to external employers for program completion verification.

Support the coordination of the Continuing Education Advisory Committee by engaging employers, workforce agencies, and community stakeholders to participate in advisory discussions aligned with program and workforce needs.

Participate in required accreditation procedures and activities through Institutional Effectiveness planning.

Participate in professional development activities, industry meetings, workforce conferences, and training sessions to maintain knowledge of workforce trends and best practices.

Perform additional duties assigned by the Dean of Community Education, Associate Provost/Strategic & South Campus Administrator, Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, and President.

Required:-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

3 years of full-time experience supporting adult learners in education, workforce development, career services, academic advising, or related student transition services.

A current State Driver’s License.
Preferred:-
1 year of full-time professional experience coordinating employer engagement initiatives, career coaching, case management, or supporting student transitions into employment or further education, preferably within a higher education or workforce development setting.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
