Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineer (Solar & Inverter Systems) – Unlimited RV Service and Solar (Knoxville, TN location)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead and expand our solar, inverter, lithium battery, and power systems division. You will design, quote, sell, troubleshoot, and support advanced RV and van energy systems while collaborating with our service team. This role is a key leadership position to maintain and grow our reputation as Knoxville’s go-to off-grid power center.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead custom solar system design and installation (full panel installs, upgrades, charge controllers, inverters, and lithium battery banks) for RVs, vans, and portable/fixed applications.
- Recommend and source high-quality components (e.g., Victron Energy inverters/MPPTs, Battle Born lithium batteries, etc) and ensure compliance with best practices for safety, efficiency, and longevity.
- Perform system assessments, load calculations, and energy audits to create tailored off-grid or hybrid solutions.
- Oversee professional installations, testing, troubleshooting, and post-install training for customers and technicians.
- Manage quotes, proposals, and project timelines for solar/inverter upgrades and van power buildouts.
- Provide ongoing support, repairs, and system optimization for existing customers.
- Collaborate with service, and mobile teams to integrate electrical upgrades with RV repairs and maintenance.
- Stay current on industry standards, battery/inverter technologies, and best practices for off-grid RV/van power.
- Contribute to marketing and educational content.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (AND/OR equivalent experience) with strong focus on renewable energy, power systems, and DC/AC systems.
- Proven experience in solar PV systems, battery storage (lithium preferred), and inverter technology—ideally with RV, van, or off-grid applications.
- Deep knowledge of Victron Energy systems, charge controllers, and high-voltage DC setups is highly desirable.
- Strong background in electrical design, safety code compliance, and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Excellent communication, project management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, create schematics, perform load calculations, and lead team installs.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS), MPPT controllers, and alternator charging preferred.
- Passion for helping RVers and van-builders achieve sustainable, independent power solutions.
- You will be Project Engineer based - meaning you interact with the customer, shop leadership, technicians, and corporate leadership to design, support install, test, and support customer delivery and beyond.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on RV or van conversion experience.
- Familiarity with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, hybrid inverters, and real-world use.
- Prior leadership or team management experience.
