Join our busy ophthalmology practice as a Part-Time Certified Nurse Practitioner providing pre-operative medical evaluations for patients scheduled to undergo ophthalmic surgery. Position Summary
The Certified Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive pre-operative history and physical examinations, assess patients' medical readiness for surgery, identify and manage perioperative risks, and collaborate closely with our ophthalmologists and surgical team to ensure safe, efficient surgical care.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-operative history and physical examinations for ophthalmic surgical patients.
- Review medical history, medications, allergies, and relevant diagnostic testing.
- Evaluate patients for medical clearance and identify conditions requiring additional evaluation or optimization.
- Order appropriate pre-operative testing when indicated.
- Document findings accurately and complete surgical clearance documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate with surgeons, primary care providers, and specialty providers as needed.
- Educate patients regarding the surgical process and answer pre-operative questions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) licensure.
- Current DEA registration (if applicable).
- BLS certification.
- Experience in family practice, internal medicine, or surgical pre-operative evaluation preferred.
- Excellent clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
