Position Overview
The Counter Sales Associate is responsible for providing superior customer service and sales support at the branch sales counter. This role serves as a primary point of contact for HVAC contractors, technicians, and other customers, assisting with order processing, product inquiries, and solutions that meet customer needs. The Counter Sales Associate ensures a positive customer experience while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism in all transactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers at the sales counter in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
- Accurately process customer orders in person, by phone, or electronically, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide product knowledge, availability, pricing, and technical support to customers.
- Assist customers with product selection by assessing project requirements and recommending appropriate HVAC parts, equipment, and supplies.
- Collaborate with warehouse and inside sales teams to ensure prompt and accurate order fulfillment.
- Manage cash, credit, and account transactions, maintaining compliance with company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales counter environment, including merchandising displays and stocked shelves.
- Support branch inventory management, including showroom replenishments, reporting shortages, assisting with cycle counts, and monitoring product levels.
- Develop and maintain positive customer relationships by delivering reliable service and demonstrating industry knowledge.
- Stay informed of new products, promotions, and market trends to enhance sales effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or HVAC-related training preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of customer service, counter sales, or wholesale distribution experience preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and industry practices strongly desired.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with computers, point-of-sale systems, and order entry software.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and assist with warehouse tasks as needed.
- The employee may use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment.
Work Environment
This position is performed primarily at the branch sales counter, with occasional work in the warehouse to support customer orders. The role requires regular interaction with customers and collaboration with internal teams.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
